Biography:    Sherman Ellsworth Nason was born in Townville on May 5, 1864 to Dr. William and Chatharine Breed Nason. He attended Edinboro State Normal School and graduated with the class of 1888. He later graduated from Eastman Business College in 1891.

For many years Sherman taught in public schools in Pennsylvania and Nebraska. He then became the proprietor of Ridgway Sanitarium in Hydetown where he met his wife, Eliza Ridgway Nason. The two were married May 31, 1893.

The couple had four children, Dorothy (who died in infancy), William Ridgway Nason (who died in infancy), Linna Nason Colbert (1894 – 1989), and Vivan Nason (1898 – 1981).

Later in life, he became involved in the oil business and at the time of his death was working in Oklahoma with the Charter Oil Company. Sherman was a member of the Masonic circles and prominent in the Oil Creek Lodge, Occidental Council, Rose Croix Commandery, and Knights Templar.

Sherman Ellsworth Nason died November 30, 1918 of pneumonia. His wife would pass shortly after him, the next year.
