Biography: Samuel E. Ridgway was born August 16, 1858 in Hydetown to Samuel and Eliza Hyde Ridgway. He was one of eight children, all who preceded him in death.

Ridgway lived in Hydetown and Titusville until 1913 when he moved to Florida. In 1918 they moved again, this time to Akron, Ohio, where he lived until his death.

Samuel Ridgway was employed by the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and retired in July 1930.

He loved hunting, fishing, storytelling, and serving as the umpire at baseball games. On May 11, 1938 he was stricken with a heart attack, and was further attacked similarly three more times. The final heart attack resulted in his death in late 1938.

He was married to Julia Anna Bellen (1865 – 1934) with whom he had two children: one son, Louis Francis (1889 – 1958), and one daughter, Ruth Katherine (1894 – 1990).
