Biography:    Frances “Fanny” Titus was born in Frankstown, PA on April 11, 1779 to parents Peter (1750 – 1857) and Jane Kerr Titus (1745 – ?). Her brother was Jonathan Titus, one of the founders of Titusville.

She was married to Charles Ridgway and with him had nine children: Susan (1806 – 1860), Peter (1808 – 1885), Charles (1810 – 1859), Jane (1813 – 1890), Ruth (1815 – 1837), Alexander (1817 – 1836), John (1823 – 1901), Samuel (1824 – 1901), and Titus (1825 – 1907).

Charles and Frances are regarded as pioneers of Hydetown. Frances died in Titusville on December 29, 1836.

 


There is no obituary available for Frances Titus Ridgway as she died before the local newspaper, The Titusville Herald, was founded in 1865.
