Biography:    Charles was born on October 7, 1779 in Brownsville, Fayette County, PA to parents Noah (1760 – 1806) and Susannah Haldron Ridgway (1764 – 1800).

He was married to Frances Titus Ridgway, with whom he had nine children: Susan (1806 – 1860), Peter (1808 – 1885), Charles (1810 – 1859), Jane (1813 – 1890), Ruth (1815 – 1837), Alexander (1817 – 1836), John (1823 – 1901), Samuel (1824 – 1901), and Titus (1825 – 1907).

Charles and Frances are regarded as pioneers of Hydetown. Charles died on October 15, 1854.

There is no obituary available for Charles Ridgway as he died before the local newspaper, The Titusville Herald, was founded in 1865.
